Work it out
Runs in your browser. Nothing is sent to us and nothing is saved — a height and a weight are your business.
BMI is one measure among several and it says nothing about how you are built. Surgeons weigh it alongside your health and your goals; it does not decide anything on its own.
A licensed U.S. surgeon performs your procedure. You meet them at consultation from the start.
Credentials differ by surgeon and are listed in full on each surgeon's page.
The Philadelphia clinic works to U.S. healthcare regulation and infection control.

"Scheduled it for January so recovery lined up with my slow season at work. Being off my feet didn’t cost me anything."
"I kept asking when I’d see it. They were honest that swelling hides everything for weeks. Glad they set that up front."
"Wore the garment through a heatwave and hated it. But the one time I skipped a day, I could tell. Put it back on."
"Walkable from my place near Rittenhouse, so I never skipped a follow-up. That access is underrated."
Testimonials reflect individual experiences. Results vary by patient.
Stop the medications we flag, usually blood thinners and anti-inflammatories, and stock the house so you are not shopping on day two. Get your garment fitted, set up somewhere to sleep slightly propped, and cook a few things ahead. Skip alcohol for a few days beforehand. The people who prepare the week before have a noticeably easier first week after.
Depends what was done. Abdominal work usually means slightly bent at the hips for the first stretch, which a wedge pillow or a stack of cushions handles. After a BBL you avoid sitting or lying directly on the buttocks for several weeks, so you sleep on your front or side. You will be told exactly which applies to you before discharge.
You can, but the timing is worth thinking through. Pregnancy stretches abdominal skin and separates muscle again, so a tummy tuck done beforehand may need revisiting afterwards. Liposuction results hold up better. If children are in the plan within a couple of years, say so at consultation and the sequence can be discussed honestly.
Sometimes, and it is worth raising early. Liposuction can distort a design slightly as the contour underneath changes. Excision procedures remove skin, so part of a tattoo can be lost or realigned depending on where the incision falls. Bring photos to the consultation and the surgeon will tell you what happens to it.
Swelling, bruising and tightness are expected. What is not: fever, a hot red patch spreading, sudden one-sided calf pain, shortness of breath, or drainage that changes colour and smell. Any of those means call the post-operative line the same day rather than waiting for your next appointment. Trust the instinct that something has changed.
The clinic runs Monday to Saturday, 10am to 7pm, closed Sunday, so late afternoon and Saturday consultations are usually possible. Surgery days begin earlier than the front desk opens and you get your own arrival time when you schedule. Saturday surgery slots go quickly, since most people want the weekend to recover before Monday.
Almost everyone arrives at a contouring consultation carrying a few beliefs that are not quite true. Some come from friends who had it done a decade ago, some from before-and-after posts with no context, some from clinics with an interest in you believing them. None of it is stupid. It is just wrong often enough to change what people expect and, occasionally, what they agree to. Goals sits at 1420 Locust Street in Center City. What follows takes the assumptions patients bring through the door most frequently and puts the accurate version next to each one, including the places where the truth is less convenient than the myth.
It is not, and this is the single most common misunderstanding. Contouring reshapes tissue that is already there. It removes fat from specific areas to change a silhouette. The number on the scale barely moves, and anyone hoping otherwise will be disappointed by an otherwise good result. Patients who arrive wanting to be smaller overall are usually looking for something contouring was never designed to deliver.
This is why stable weight matters before surgery. Someone still actively losing gets asked to level off first, because operating into a moving target produces a shape that shifts underneath you afterwards. Fat loss shots exist for exactly this stage, supervised injections supporting steady reduction for patients who need to come down before anyone will clear them. Being asked to wait a few months is not a rejection, it is the difference between a result that holds and one that does not.
The related myth is that results are permanent regardless of what happens next. Treated areas do hold, since those fat cells are gone, but the cells left behind still expand and untreated areas carry on normally. A twenty or thirty pound swing will rearrange the work. Small fluctuations will not. This is also why a stable period after surgery protects what you paid for, and why anyone planning a major weight change should do it before rather than after.
FlexSculpt is the clinic's awake liposuction method, and most plans here are built on it. Small access points, local anesthetic, fat taken out in stages. Awake does not mean enduring anything. You are numb, not sedated, and the difference between those two words is the entire misunderstanding.
The Brazilian Butt Lift pairs that removal with transfer into the hips and buttocks, using fat from the waist, flanks and back to build projection and fill the hip dip. Your own tissue, so no implant and nothing to reject. A share always reabsorbs, and any surgeon who does not say so before you book is selling rather than advising.
The safety case is the one that really settles it. Putting someone under carries risk that mounts with weight, with age, with the conditions already in their chart, and contouring patients cluster in exactly those groups. Staying awake wipes that off the board, and with it the anesthesiologist, the recovery bay, the drawn-out discharge, which is how you are home the same afternoon without the fog or the sick feeling. The surgical bonus rides along too: you rise and pivot mid-procedure so the surgeon judges your shape with gravity in play, which is the precise moment a ridge gives itself away. Flat and unconscious on a table, that check never happens.
They cannot, and the gap becomes obvious once swelling settles. Injectables add volume. They remove no fat. Skin treatments improve surface texture and will not tighten a loose abdomen. Anyone presenting the two as equivalent is overselling, and the patients who believe it end up paying twice.
What non-surgical work does well is different and genuinely useful. Instant BBL with Radiesse uses filler for lift with no incisions, which suits a date on the calendar or testing a shape before committing. PRP facial rejuvenation uses your own platelets to firm skin. Microdermabrasion resurfaces dull texture. Skin tag removal is one short visit.
The sensible framing is sequence rather than substitute. Non-surgical first until weight holds steady, contouring once the body has settled, maintenance afterwards. Following that order protects the result instead of undermining it.
A clinic prepared to tell you that you do not need surgery has told you something useful about how it operates. So has one that pushes injectables at a problem clearly calling for excision. The first is protecting your money. The second is protecting its own booking sheet, and the difference shows up in what you see six months later.
Some people are turned away, and it is a good sign when they are. What gets examined is BMI, medical history, smoking, and whether weight has held steady. Uncontrolled blood pressure or diabetes, active smoking, certain clotting disorders and weight still in motion are all reasons to wait.
None of those are permanent barriers. Most are things you address across a few months and then return. The consultation that says come back in four months is doing its job. A clinic clearing everyone who walks in is not screening anybody.
Skin quality decides more cases than patients expect and it is rarely what they came in worrying about. Fat comes out of anybody. Skin that has lost elasticity will not retract on its own, and then an excision procedure such as a tummy tuck produces a result liposuction alone never will. Hearing this feels like bad news and is usually the opposite, because the alternative is paying for a procedure that was never going to do what you wanted.
Plenty of patients here open with a video consultation and photographs, particularly anyone coming from the suburbs, South Jersey or Delaware. That settles rough suitability and gets the plan discussed without a trip into Center City. The real assessment still happens on surgery morning, standing up, marked, with everything confirmed before anything starts.
You see swelling within a few weeks. The result takes months, and confusing the two is the most reliable source of unnecessary panic in the whole process.
Week one is the hardest physically. Swelling, bruising and soreness peak around day two or three. The compression garment stays on continuously and you walk short distances from day one, because movement keeps clot risk down. Desk work resumes after seven to ten days. Physical work takes considerably longer than people plan for.
A low patch tends to settle in around the second or third week. Adrenaline spent, swelling still there, and the mirror bearing no resemblance to the plan you agreed on. It passes. Phone the clinic rather than turning it over by yourself, because one steady word from someone who has followed a thousand recoveries outweighs another late night measuring your symptoms against the internet.
Most swelling clears by six to eight weeks. The final shape lands between three and six months, and patches of firmness can linger past that. Judge nothing before the three month mark, and do not make decisions about revisions during the first fortnight. Follow-ups here track the whole arc rather than checking in once and sending you away. Results at each stage are in our before and after gallery.
The advertised gap is real. What it excludes is everything that matters when something goes wrong. Aftercare. Recourse. The ability to sit in front of the person who operated on you.
Run the whole number rather than the headline. Flights, accommodation, time off work, and a return trip if a second session proves necessary. Revision surgery is harder and more involved than getting it right the first time, and it is priced accordingly. Damage to an area already operated on is not always fully correctable, which is the part that rarely appears in any package comparison.
The part that decides it for most Philadelphia patients is proximity during recovery. Something unusual in week two gets examined here that same week. The same problem with your surgeon overseas becomes a photograph emailed to someone who cannot examine you, and a local doctor unfamiliar with what was done and reluctant to take responsibility for someone else's work.
Locust Street sits near Rittenhouse Square, two blocks off Walnut, walkable from Broad Street and Market East. Contouring is a string of appointments across the following year, not a single visit, and the patients who drop out of follow-up are almost always the ones facing a long journey each way.
Financing is available and belongs in the first conversation rather than the last. What you pay depends on which procedures combine and how much work each area needs, so a figure arrives once the surgeon knows the plan. Anything quoted before an examination is guesswork dressed as a quote.
Spreading payment across months changes what is achievable for a lot of people, and raising it early means the plan gets built around what you can carry instead of being trimmed back later. No surprises is the standard we hold ourselves to.
The clinic itself is contouring first. Fat removal and transfer, abdominal work, breast procedures, plus the shorter non-surgical list. Tummy tucks, mommy makeovers, augmentation, fat transfer augmentation, lift and reduction, gynecomastia surgery, arm contouring, chin and neck work, labiaplasty and FlexTuck are all performed here. Everything outpatient, nobody staying overnight, no routine case sent to a hospital. Doing the same procedures every week builds judgement about how different bodies respond that a general practice never quite accumulates.
They are not, and the differences rarely show up in the marketing. Ask who physically performs the procedure. At some practices the surgeon marks you and staff handle the rest, and patients learn this afterwards. Here, licensed and skilled U.S. providers do the work, and you meet your surgeon before committing to anything. Credentials are published, not implied.
Ask for results at twelve months rather than six weeks, on patients built the way you are built. Early photographs flatter, because swelling fills in what turns up later. If your case involves loose skin or a previous operation, ask specifically to see those, because they separate a practice that handles difficulty from one that photographs its easiest work.
Read reviews for what people say about week three rather than the day of surgery. Anyone can run a pleasant operating room. The practices worth choosing are the ones patients credit for answering the phone deep into recovery and taking a worry seriously without making them feel like a nuisance.
And weigh what a practice declines to do. A clinic accepting every patient, operating on people who are not medically ready, and promising what the technique cannot deliver has told you what it optimises for. The consultation telling you to lose weight first is the one to trust. The full range sits across our services, or find another clinic on our locations page.
How the day actually goes: those opening injections nip for a few minutes, and that is the peak of it. From there it is music, phone calls, ordinary conversation. The hours move far more plainly than the word implies. This is the part people build up in their heads more than any other, and almost all of them come out the far side saying the buildup was the hard part. If it steadies you, ask at consultation for the running order start to finish, because knowing what lands and when drains off most of the nerves.
Tell us what you want changed. The Philadelphia team will say what is realistic, how recovery runs, and whether you qualify.
