Work it out
Runs in your browser. Nothing is sent to us and nothing is saved — a height and a weight are your business.
BMI is one measure among several and it says nothing about how you are built. Surgeons weigh it alongside your health and your goals; it does not decide anything on its own.
Every surgeon here holds a New York license and does awake contouring most weeks. You meet yours at consultation, not the morning of surgery.
Credentials differ by surgeon and are listed in full on each surgeon's page.

"Booked it for a quiet stretch at work in January. Home the same afternoon, back at my desk inside a week."
"What sold me was the follow-up. Someone actually picked up when I called with a dumb question at week two."
"I didn’t want it obvious. Six months out my midsection just looks like I train, which is exactly what I asked for."
"Priced a package in Miami and nearly went. Then I thought about who checks on me after. Stayed in Brooklyn, no regrets."
Testimonials reflect individual experiences. Results vary by patient.
All of it happens at 319 Schermerhorn Street. There are operating rooms in the building, so the consultation, the procedure and every follow-up sit at the same address. Nobody gets referred out to a hospital or a rented surgical suite across town.
Monday to Saturday, 10am until 7pm, closed Sundays. Consultations tend to land earlier in the day and procedures later, though that shifts week to week. If nothing in the calendar suits you, come for a consultation.
Nursing staff, and they stay with you through the procedure and into recovery until you are discharged. The local anesthetic is given by the surgeon doing the operating. There is no anesthesiologist, because nobody is putting you under.
That is how a good share of our patients start. The first consultation runs over video: photos get reviewed, you say what you want, somebody tells you what is realistic. An in-person exam in Brooklyn still happens before a date is set.
You go home with an after-hours number for post-op concerns, and somebody answers it when the clinic is shut. If it looks like a real emergency, do not wait on us. Go to the nearest ER, then tell us what happened.
Subway, comfortably. Boerum Hill, a short walk from Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center, which carries the 2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q, R and W. Hoyt-Schermerhorn on the A, C and G is close too. Driving works, but metered parking is thin. Paid garages sit on Schermerhorn and Livingston.
Most people picture the same thing when they hear plastic surgery. A hospital gown, a mask over your face, a night on a ward, then a fortnight of nothing. That picture is out of date, at least here. At the Brooklyn clinic on Schermerhorn Street you are awake for the procedure, numbed locally, and out the door the same afternoon. That single decision reshapes everything downstream: the length of the day, the shape of recovery, and the specific list of things that can go wrong. Below is the honest version of how it works.
This is a body contouring clinic before it is anything else. Fat removal, fat transfer, skin tightening. FlexSculpt, Brazilian Butt Lift, tummy tuck, FlexTuck, breast surgery, gynecomastia correction, plus focused work on arms and the chin and neck. Thirteen Goals clinics run nationwide on identical protocols, which sounds like a detail until you consult in one city and book your surgery in another, which people do constantly.
The Boerum Hill address pulls from all over Brooklyn, plus Queens and Lower Manhattan, and a steady number of people who fly in from other states. Operating rooms and recovery space are in the building. So the consultation, the surgery and every post-op check happen at one address, rather than a consultation office here and a surgical centre somewhere across the river.
That sounds administrative. It is not. A great deal of cosmetic surgery in this city gets sold at one address and performed at a second one, and patients tend to discover this uncomfortably late. Sitting in the room where the surgery will happen, with the surgeon who will do it, takes one unknown off a pile that is already tall enough.
Nearly everything surgical here runs through FlexSculpt. Awake liposuction, small incisions, local anesthetic, and fat pulled from the places that have quietly ignored years of dieting and training. Abdomen and flanks mostly. Also back, thighs, arms, under the chin. You shift position when asked, which is the whole advantage. Light activity resumes within a few days for most people and normal life inside a fortnight, though nobody should treat that as a promise, because bodies vary more than marketing copy admits.
Brazilian Butt Lift keeps the fat instead of throwing it away. It comes off the waist, back or thighs, gets purified, and goes into the buttocks and hips. The hips part is the bit a standard Brazilian Butt Lift usually skips, and it is why patients describe the result as proportion rather than volume. Different problem entirely: loose skin and abdominal muscle that has separated, usually after pregnancy or a large weight loss. That is what tummy tuck and FlexTuck are for. Removing fat will not touch it.
Breast surgery sits alongside all of this. Breast Augmentation can go the implant route or use transferred fat, and the fat option tends to appeal to people who want a moderate change without carrying an implant around. Lift and reduction are about position and weight instead of volume, which is a distinction plenty of patients only learn at the consultation. Gynecomastia surgery removes excess male breast tissue. It gets asked about constantly and training almost never fixes it. Which of these is yours is genuinely a question for the surgeon, not the internet.
Plenty of people book a consultation and leave without a surgery date. Sometimes the timing is wrong, sometimes the procedure is. J-Plasma tightening uses cold plasma energy on skin that has lost its snap, and it often runs alongside FlexSculpt when looseness matters as much as bulk. Fat loss shots are the supervised route for someone who needs to reach a weight before surgery makes any sense at all.
For some patients this is the whole plan, not a stepping stone. Somebody carrying loose skin after a big weight loss will often get more from tightening than from taking out more fat. And if your weight is still moving, waiting is usually the better call, because a contour you buy today shifts if the number on the scale keeps changing. A surgeon telling you not yet is doing the job properly. That is worth hearing rather than shopping around until someone says yes.
Downtime is the other reason people land here. Arm work, and chin and neck contouring, get booked by patients who cannot vanish from work for two weeks and do not want to. The smaller scale is the appeal, not a consolation prize. Results are more modest than surgery, though, and anyone who tells you different is selling.
Start with what general anesthesia actually costs you in risk. Blood clots. Fat embolism. These are documented, not hypothetical, and they are a large part of why BBL surgery has the reputation it does in other countries. Take general anesthesia out and that whole category of complication goes with it. Not reduced. Gone.
The day feels different too. You come in, the area gets numbed, and you are conscious and talking the entire time. No slow crawl back to yourself in a recovery bay. You sleep in your own bed that night. There is a real trade-off here and it deserves saying plainly: you know a procedure is happening to you. It does not hurt, but knowing bothers some people more than they expect. Say so at consultation if you think that might be you.
The surgeon gets something out of it as well. Ask an unconscious patient to stand up and turn and nothing happens. Ask a conscious one and you can see the contour the way the world will see it, upright, under gravity. Asymmetry gets caught mid-procedure instead of at the six-week check, and catching it then means fixing it then, not booking a second operation.
Contouring is not weight loss and it will not stand in for it. There are also legal caps on how much fat comes out in one sitting, and those vary by state, so anyone arriving expecting one dramatic afternoon will hear a more measured number or a plan spread across stages. Hearing what a procedure cannot do is the useful half of a consultation.
Skin does more of the work than most people realise. Skin that still retracts settles neatly over a smaller contour. Skin that has lost elasticity to age, pregnancy or a major weight loss may not, and pulling fat out from under it can make the looseness louder instead of quieter. That is the reasoning when a patient gets steered toward a tuck or a tightening treatment, either instead of fat removal or on top of it.
Video is where most out-of-state patients start, and it works fine for a first pass. Photos get looked at, medical history gets covered, and you find out whether the thing you came in asking for is the thing you need. A lot of people walk in wanting one procedure and walk out having been talked into a different one, which is usually a good sign.
Nothing gets confirmed without an in-person assessment in Brooklyn. The surgeon looks at the areas, checks how the skin behaves, then either signs off on the plan or changes it. After that come pre-op instructions: what medication to stop, what you can eat and drink beforehand, who is driving you home. Follow them exactly. A large share of the avoidable trouble in body contouring traces straight back to instructions somebody decided were optional.
Write your questions down beforehand, because you will forget them in the room. How many of these has this surgeon done. What does week two actually feel like. What is the plan if the result comes out uneven. What would make them refuse to operate on you. An appointment where every single answer soothes you is worth less than one where somebody is straight about the limits.
Same day, you are home. Compression garments go on and stay on for several weeks, and light walking starts almost straight away, because lying still does you more harm than moving gently does. Desk work comes back inside a week for most people. The gym waits four to six weeks, depending on what you had done. Brazilian Butt Lift patients cannot sit directly on the buttocks for about a fortnight, and that restriction, more than any pain, is what people complain about afterwards.
Swelling takes months to finish settling. What you see in the mirror at week two is not what you are keeping, and knowing that in advance saves a great deal of unnecessary panic. Follow-ups happen at the Brooklyn clinic, and everybody leaves with a number that works outside opening hours. At the point of booking, proximity feels like a minor convenience. At week three, the first time something looks odd and you want a professional to glance at it, it stops feeling minor.
Sort out week one before you go in. A ride home, a full fridge, and the assumption that you will want two or three genuinely quiet days regardless of how good you feel on day one. People who treat early recovery as a thing to power through generally pay for it in week two. And the compression garment stays on however much you come to resent it.
Price moves with the procedure, how many areas you are treating, and how much work each one takes, which is why a number quoted before a consultation is close to meaningless. Bring up financing early rather than at the end. What you can comfortably afford tends to decide whether you do one area now or spread the work across a couple of years, and that is a planning question, not an awkward one.
Choosing the surgeon matters more than the quote. Check the licence. Ask how many of your specific procedure they do in a normal month. Look at before-and-after photos of people who started where you are starting, not people who started ten kilos lighter. Overseas packages read beautifully on price, then the gap narrows once flights, hotels and time off go on the tab, and it disappears completely the moment follow-up care means an airport instead of a subway platform. Ask what happens if something goes wrong at week three. Their answer tells you nearly everything.
Living here is the quiet advantage. Revision work, swelling that drags on longer than expected, a scar that heals in a strange way. None of this is unusual and all of it is easier when the clinic is four subway stops away and the person examining you is the one who did the operation. That is the case for staying local, and it beats a discount most days of the week.
The short version: reasonable general health, a weight that has held steady for a while, and particular areas that have refused to shift no matter what you did to them. A high BMI on its own is not a rejection, whatever you may have read. Suitability gets worked out case by case, against your medical history, the areas you care about, and what your skin and frame will actually allow.
FlexSculpt, Brazilian Butt Lift, tummy tuck, or you have no idea yet. Either way, the Brooklyn team tells you what your body can realistically do before you commit.
