BMI is one measure among several and it says nothing about how you are built. Surgeons weigh it alongside your health and your goals; it does not decide anything on its own.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Ridgefield Clinic

Yes. There are operating rooms and recovery space at 605 Broad Avenue, so the consultation, the procedure and every follow-up sit at one address. Nothing gets sent out to a hospital or a rented surgical suite. Worth asking anywhere you go, because plenty of practices sell at one address and operate at another.

Monday to Saturday, 10am until 7pm, closed Sundays. Consultations usually sit earlier in the day and procedures later, though the pattern moves week to week. If nothing on offer works around your job or your commute, call (551) 228-6262 and ask rather than assuming.

Nursing staff, and they stay with you through the procedure and into recovery until you are discharged. The local anesthetic is given by the surgeon doing the operating. There is no anesthesiologist, because nobody is putting you under. You are numb rather than sedated, and you can talk to the surgeon the whole time.

On travel time, not on quality. Same procedures, same protocols, same phone line. Ridgefield sits minutes from the George Washington Bridge, which suits Hudson County and anyone coming from the city. Fair Lawn is off Route 208 and better placed for northern Bergen and Passaic. Pick the shorter drive.

Use the after-hours number you went home with. Somebody answers it when the clinic is shut, and calling on a weekend is ordinary rather than a nuisance. If it looks like a genuine emergency, do not wait on us. Go to the nearest emergency room first, then tell us what happened.

For a lot of Washington Heights and Bronx patients, yes. It is about fifteen minutes from the bridge outside rush hour and parking is free on site, which beats a garage charge on every visit. Count it six or seven times rather than once, because that is how often you will make the trip. NJ Transit buses run along Broad Avenue.

Body Contouring at Ridgefield: The Questions Patients Ask

The same questions come up in almost every consultation at 605 Broad Avenue, and most of them have short, specific answers that nobody puts in writing. What is actually done here. Whether being awake is as bad as it sounds. Who gets turned away. What the first fortnight costs you in time. Whether crossing the bridge from Manhattan makes any sense once you count the return trips. Each heading below is one of those questions, answered as directly as it can be answered without examining you first.

Body contouring, before anything else. Fat removal, fat transfer and skin tightening, which in practice means FlexSculpt, Brazilian Butt Lift, tummy tuck, FlexTuck, mommy makeover, breast surgery, gynecomastia correction, and focused work on arms, chin and neck. Around those sit fat loss shots, J-Plasma tightening, Instant BBL with filler, Votiva, plus microdermabrasion.

The address does more work here than at most clinics in the network. Ridgefield sits in Bergen County a short drive from the George Washington Bridge, which brings Hudson County, upper Manhattan and the Bronx into range alongside its own suburban catchment. From Washington Heights the bridge is often quicker than crossing town to a Manhattan clinic, and the parking is free rather than a garage charge every single visit.

Operating rooms and recovery space are in the building, so consultation, surgery and post-op checks all happen at one address. That is worth verifying wherever you are considering, because a good deal of cosmetic surgery is sold at one address and performed at another and patients tend to find out late. Having sat in the actual room, opposite the actual surgeon, takes one variable off the pile.

It depends on whether your problem is fat or skin, and people get this wrong constantly. If it is fat that has ignored years of training, FlexSculpt handles it: awake liposuction, local anesthetic, small incisions, treating the abdomen, flanks, back, thighs, arms or under the chin. Being conscious lets you shift position so the surgeon can check symmetry as the work happens. Light activity comes back for most people inside a few days.

If it is skin, no amount of liposuction touches it. Where pregnancy or major weight loss has taken the elasticity out of the skin, it will not spring back by itself, and emptying the fat beneath it tends to advertise the slack rather than hide it. Tummy tuck and FlexTuck exist for that, along with the separated abdominal muscle that usually comes with it.

Brazilian Butt Lift keeps the fat rather than discarding it, moving it into the buttocks and hips including the hip dips a standard Brazilian Butt Lift leaves alone. A mommy makeover bundles abdominal and breast work into one planned operation, which is one recovery instead of two. Augmentation, lift, reduction and gynecomastia correction are all available here too.

Partly, and it depends what you mean by results. J-Plasma tightens slackened skin and is frequently combined with FlexSculpt when laxity is as much the issue as bulk. Fat loss shots are the supervised route for anyone who needs to reach a weight before surgery makes sense at all. Both are useful. Neither is an operation.

Instant BBL with Radiesse is filler rather than fat, so nothing is harvested and there are none of the sitting restrictions that follow a fat transfer. The part worth knowing is that it fades, over a year or two, as the material breaks down. Some patients use it deliberately to preview a shape before committing to something permanent, which is a sensible way to spend money on an irreversible decision.

No, and this is the question patients are most reluctant to ask. You are numb, not sedated, and the distinction is the whole thing. The worst part is the first few injections, which sting briefly and then stop. After that you feel pressure and movement rather than pain, and people spend the hours talking, listening to music, checking a phone.

The safety case is stronger than the comfort one anyway. General anesthesia carries documented risk that climbs with weight and age, including blood clots and fat embolism, and much of why BBL surgery has the record it does internationally traces back to that. There is a practical gain too: a patient who can stand and turn lets the surgeon read the contour upright, so an uneven edge is caught during the procedure rather than at the six-week check.

More people than expect to be, and this stops a lot of patients from ever booking a consultation. The bar is reasonable general health, a weight that has held steady for a while, and specific areas that have not responded to diet and training. A high BMI is not an automatic refusal on its own, whatever you may have read.

Some people do get told no, or not yet, and that is the answer worth trusting. Contouring is not weight loss and will not substitute for it, so anyone whose weight is still moving is usually asked to settle first. There are also legal caps on how much fat comes out in one sitting, which is why a dramatic single-session change sometimes becomes a staged plan instead.

Skin quality decides more cases than anything else and it is the part patients least expect. Skin with good retraction left in it will lie down neatly over a reduced contour. Skin that has lost elasticity to age, pregnancy or major weight loss may not. That is the reasoning when somebody gets pointed toward a tuck or a tightening treatment rather than straight fat removal, and it is good news dressed as bad news.

Write the questions down beforehand, because the room moves faster than you expect and people routinely forget the thing that had been bothering them for months. Consultations can start by video, which is how out-of-state patients usually begin, then an in-person assessment follows before anything is confirmed.

Ask how many of these this surgeon does in a normal month. Ask who is actually operating and what changes if they become unavailable closer to the date. Ask what would make them refuse to operate on you. Then the practical half that people skim: pre-operative instructions on medication, eating and drinking, and who is driving you home. Follow those exactly, because most avoidable trouble in body contouring traces back to instructions somebody treated as optional.

Ask about revisions before you book rather than after. Get the coverage, the exclusions, the payer and the time window in writing. Because contouring settles across months, a small adjustment is sometimes fair, though no honest surgeon writes terms that remove risk entirely. If every answer in the room reassures you, you have learned less than you would from somebody willing to name the limits.

Desk work inside a week for most people, the gym at four to six weeks depending on what was done. You go home the same day, compression garments stay on for several weeks, and light walking starts almost immediately because lying still is worse for you than moving gently. Manual and physical jobs need noticeably more time, and people routinely misjudge that.

The exception is Brazilian Butt Lift, where you cannot sit directly on the buttocks for around a fortnight. That restriction disrupts ordinary life more than any soreness does. Swelling takes months to finish settling, so the week-two mirror is not the verdict, and somewhere around week three most people hit a slump that lifts on its own. Plan the first week properly: a ride home, food in the fridge, two or three genuinely quiet days.

Follow-ups happen at Ridgefield and everybody leaves with an after-hours number. If you are coming from the city, work the return visits out before booking rather than after. You will be back several times across the first six weeks and at least one of those trips lands while you are sore and not driving comfortably, which is a different journey from the one you imagined.

No honest figure exists before an examination. Price follows the procedure, how many areas you are treating and how much work each needs, so anything quoted beforehand is invention. Raise financing at the start rather than the end, because what you can comfortably carry usually decides whether the work happens at once or gets staged across a year, and that is planning rather than an awkward admission.

Check the licence. Ask how many of your particular procedure they do in a normal month, not how many operations overall. Look at results on people who started where you are starting rather than ten kilos lighter. And ask who is physically operating, because at busy practices that answer sometimes shifts closer to the date and patients discover it the week before.

Overseas packages read beautifully on price until you add flights, accommodation, time off work, and the fact that aftercare becomes an airport. Put the week-three question to whoever you are considering: if something looks wrong then, who sees me, and how soon. For anyone within reach of the bridge, the answer here is a short drive and the surgeon who did the work, which is worth more than a discount.

The trade off deserves saying plainly: you know a procedure is happening to you. There is no pain in it, but the awareness unsettles some people more than they anticipated, so raise it at consultation instead of finding out on the day. In exchange you go home the same afternoon rather than being monitored overnight, without the fog or the nausea that follows general anesthesia.
