Welcome to Goals Plastic Surgery’s Fly-In Program. We proudly serve patients from all over the U.S., and we’re committed to making yourjourney — from booking to recovery — as smooth as possible. Each of our locations offers warm hospitality and expert care, with staff ready to assist with travel plans. Below, find travel tips and information for flying into our major cities. We’ve structured each section with clear headings, short bullets, and key details so you can easily plan your trip.
• Miami International Airport (MIA):
Closest option. Located about 4 miles (~10 minutes by car) from our Miami clinic. This major hub offers many direct flights.
• Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International (FLL) :
Alternate airport. Approximately 30 miles north of Miami (~40-minute drive), FLL is a good second option with a wide range of flights (especially if you find a better fare).
• Opa-Locka Executive Airport (OPF):
Private/charter flights. Only ~15 minutes from our office, ideal if you’re arriving by private jet or charter plane.
• Rideshare & Taxis:
Uber and Lyft are readily available at MIA and FLL, with a typical Uber ride from MIA to the clinic takingabout 10–15 minutes. Taxis are also plentiful at the airport’s ground transportation area.
• Car Rentals:
All major car rental companies operate at MIA’s Rental Car Center. Renting a car can be convenient if you plan to explore or if you prefer to drive yourself (our Miami office offers free parking for patients).
Hotel Shuttles:
Many nearby hotels provide free airport shuttles for guests. For example, the EVEN Hotel Miami-Airport runs a 24/7 complimentary shuttle to/from MIA Check with your hotel about shuttle service – it can save time and ease your transit.
• Public Transit:
MIA’s MetroRail Orange Line can take you to downtown Miami, but rideshare or driving is recommended for directtravel to our clinic (which is northwest of downtown).
• Where to Stay (Hotels):
Miami has plenty of accommodations, and we suggest staying close to the airport/clinic for convenience and comfort during recovery. Here are a few options:
• EVEN Hotel Miami-Airport:
A wellness-focused hotel ~2 miles from our clinic with an outdoor pool and in-room fitness amenities. It offers a free 24-hour airport shuttle for guests, making airport transfers easy.
• Embassy Suites by Hilton – Miami Airport:
An all-suites hotel about 5 minutes from MIA (with free shuttle). Spacious two-room suites include a living area – great if you have a family member accompanying you. The hotel’s atrium and on-site dining provide arelaxing atmosphere for recovery.
• Hampton Inn Miami Airport East:
A budget-friendly option ~2 miles from the airport. Guests get free breakfast, and a free shuttle to MIA is provided (useful when you’re juggling luggage and post- op care items). The modern rooms and friendly staff earn high praise from past patients.
• Nearby Comforts & Attractions:
One benefit of recovering in Miami is the warm, tropical climate. Many patients enjoy short, gentlewalks in the sunshine as they start feeling better – remember to stay hydrated. If you’re up to it (or if you bring a companion who has free time), the city offers vibrant culture and cuisine. Little Havana’s cafes and Wynwood’s art murals are a 15–20 minute drive away , offering a taste of Miami’s famous culture. There are also numerous pharmacies (CVS, Walgreens) within a few minutes’ drive of theclinic and hotels – most offer delivery to your hotel if you need prescriptions filled. Numerous restaurants, including Cuban, Caribbean, and other Latin- American eateries, are in the vicinity for comforting, familiar food (many will deliver via UberEats or DoorDash to yourhotel). And of course, if you plan to stay a few extra days, Miami’s beaches and shopping (like Bayside Marketplace or the Design District) can be enjoyed after you’re cleared by the doctor to do light activities.
• Surgery Trip Tips – Miami:
We encourage you to arrive at least one day before your surgery to get settled and rested . Plan to stay in the Miami area for a minimum of about 5–7 days after surgery (depending on your procedure) before flying home – thisgives you time for a follow-up visit and initial healing. Our goal is to make your experience as comfortable as possible, so let our staff know if you need anything. We can even assist with local arrangements, like recommending recovery-friendly hotels or arranging private nursing care for you if necessary . Bring comfortable, loose-fitting clothing for the trip home (think soft waistbands and front-zip tops), and consider bringing a friend or family member to help – having someone to pick up medications, drive, or simply support you will empower you to focus on healing. Miami’s airport is large, so if you’re traveling alone, we can request airport wheelchair assistance for you to ease your journey. Remember, we’re here to support you every step of the way on your Goals journey!
(Goals Plastic Surgery has two Atlanta locations: one in Downtown and one in the Chamblee area. The tips below apply to flying into either location.)
• Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL):
Atlanta’s main airport and likely your arrival point. It’s about 10 miles from Downtown Atlanta (~15–20 minutes by car) and roughly 23–25 miles from our northeast Atlanta office in Chamblee (~30–40 minutes drive) airports in the world, with many flight options.ATL is one of the busiest airports in the world, with many flight options.
• DeKalb–Peachtree Airport (PDK):
A regional airport in northeast Atlanta, only about 1–2 miles from our Chamblee location. PDK is primarily for private flights or charters. If you’re flying in on a private jet or a small regional plane, PDK will be extremely convenient (just a 10–15 minute car ride to the clinic).
Note: ATL is the only major commercial airport in Atlanta. There are no secondary large airports with airline service in the immediate Atlanta area, so almost all out-of-town patients will use ATL.
• Budget Options:
There are also budget-friendly choices, like Home2 Suites by Hilton Northlake or Holiday Inn & Suites Atlanta North, which are about 10–15 minutes from the Chamblee office. They offer suite-style rooms (useful if you want a kitchenette to prepare light meals during recovery) and often include free breakfast. While not luxury spots, they are comfortable and close – suitable for a short post-op stay.
• Nearby Comforts & Attractions:
Atlanta is known for its hospitality and rich culture. Depending on where you stay, you’ll find plenty of ways to make your recovery period comfortable.
• Downtown:
You’re close to world-class attractions. If you have a friend or family member with you, they might enjoy the Georgia Aquarium or World of Coca-Cola while you rest. For you, once you’re feeling a bit better, a gentle stroll through Centennial Olympic Park (downtown’s famous green space) could be a nice change of scenery – it’s about a 10-minute walk from our downtown office. Downtown Atlanta also has numerous 24-hour pharmacies (CVS, Walgreens) and takeout restaurants. Many patients appreciate having food delivered to their hotel – everything from Southern comfort food to healthy salads is available via delivery apps.
• Chamblee/Brookhaven Area:
This part of Atlanta is slightly quieter, with a suburban feel. You’ll find easy conveniences like Walmart, Target, and grocery stores (Publix, Kroger) within a short drive – useful if you need to pick up gauze, medications, or snacks. For dining, the Buford Highway corridor is very close; this area is famous for its diverse international cuisine (Latin American, Asian, and more) – great if you or your companion want something different to eat (many spots offer takeout). If you feel up for a short outing, the nearby Perimeter Mall or LENOX Mall/Buckhead area (about 15–20 min drive) offer shopping and people-watching without too much walking. Also, most hotels in this area are near parks or have gardens/courtyards – sitting outside for a bit of fresh air can lift your spirits during recovery.
• Surgery Trip Tips – Atlanta:
For out-of-state patients coming to Atlanta, key planning tips are similar to other locations. Plan to arrive at least a day early so you can meet our team in person and not feel rushed. Before surgery, get a good night’s sleep at your hotel – you’ll be more relaxed on procedure day. After surgery, we generally recommend staying around 5–7 days before flying back home. This allows time for a post-op check-up and ensures you’re stable and comfortable to travel. Atlanta’s airport is huge, so if you leave within a week of surgery, consider requesting wheelchair assistance at ATL to help with the long distances inside the terminals. Bring a support person if you can. Having someone to drive you (especially in Atlanta traffic), help you in the hotel, or even just keep you company can be invaluable. If you’re coming alone, let us know in advance – our staff can arrange for a licensed caregiver or nurse to assist you at your hotel during the first day or two after your surgery (many out-of-town patients take advantage of this service for peace of mind). Lastly, follow all pre-op instructions about flying (for example, avoid tight clothing or heavy lifting). We will equip you with detailed post-op care guidelines – stick to these and you’ll be on the road to recovery in no time. We’re here to provide Southern hospitality and expert care, ensuring your Atlanta surgery trip is a positive, empowering experience.
• Rideshare & Taxis:
Uber, Lyft, and taxis are abundantly available at ATL. The ride from ATL to downtown Goals (Walton St.) takes ~20 minutes without traffic. To our Chamblee office, expect about a 30–40 minute trip by car. Keep in mind Atlanta traffic can be heavy, especially during rush hour (weekdays 7–9am and 4–7pm), so plan a time cushion.
• MARTA Public Transit:
Atlanta’s MARTA train connects the airport to downtown (the Gold/Red Line goes from ATL’s Domestic Terminal straight to downtown in ~20 minutes). If you’re heading to the Chamblee area, you can take MARTA to Doraville Station (Gold Line) and then a short taxi/Uber (~5–10 min) to the clinic. While MARTA is a viable option (especially for downtown), if you have luggage or post-op mobility concerns, a direct car ride might be more comfortable.
• Car Rentals:
Renting a car is an option at ATL’s Rental Center, but remember that if you’re having surgery, you shouldn’t drive immediately afterward. If you have a companion, a rental car can be useful for getting around the city or to go between hotel and clinic. Otherwise, rideshares often suffice for the duration of your stay.
• Hotel Shuttles:
Some hotels in the Atlanta area (particularly those near the airport or in Buckhead/Downtown) offer shuttle services. For example, many downtown hotels are a quick taxi or Uber ride from ATL, and a few airport-area hotels have shuttles if you choose to stay by the airport (though most patients prefer to stay closer to the clinic). Check with your hotel if they provide an airport shuttle or any local shuttle service to the clinic.
• Where to Stay (Hotels):
Atlanta offers a range of accommodations to fit your needs, whether you want to stay in the heart of downtown or in a quieter area near our Chamblee office. We recommend choosing a hotel that’s relatively close to whichever Goals clinic you’ll visit, to minimize travel when you’re post-op. Some suggestions:
• Downtown Atlanta (near Walton St. clinic):
You’ll find many well-known hotels within a 1-mile radius of our downtown office. For instance, The Westin Peachtree Plaza and Atlanta Marriott Marquis are large, upscale hotels downtown – each about a 5–10 minute drive (or a short cab ride) from our Walton Street location. These hotels offer amenities like room service (handy for resting patients) and in-room refrigerators (to store drinks, snacks, or cold compresses). Downtown hotels put you close to pharmacies and convenience stores as well, which is helpful.
• Northeast/Perimeter Area (near Chamblee clinic):
If your procedure is at our Chamblee location, consider staying in the Perimeter Center or Doraville/Chamblee area. For example, the DoubleTree by Hilton – Perimeter Dunwoody is a comfortable hotel roughly 5 minutes from our Chamblee office by car. It offers free parking and is near Perimeter Mall (convenient if you need to shop for any supplies). Another option is the Courtyard by Marriott Atlanta Dunwoody, a modern hotel about 10 minutes away, surrounded by several restaurants. These northern Atlanta hotels tend to be quieter and have the benefit of being closer to the clinic (so you won’t need to battle as much city traffic after surgery).
(Goals has multiple New York City locations – Harlem, Bronx, Brooklyn – but all are within the NYC metro. This guide focuses on travel to our Harlem Manhattan office as a reference, since many out-of-state patients choose to visit our flagship NYC location.)
The New York City area is served by three major airports, so you have options:
• LaGuardia Airport (LGA) – Closest to Manhattan.
LGA is only ~5–8 miles from our Harlem office, roughly a 15–20 minute drive. It handles mostly domestic flights. If you’re coming from within the US, LGA is a convenient choice (and usually less hectic than JFK).
• John F. Kennedy International (JFK) –
NYC’s largest international airport. JFK is about 15–20 miles from Manhattan; driving to our clinic takes ~30–45 minutes (depending on traffic). It’s a great option if you’re coming from the West Coast or internationally, as it has the most flights.
Tip: You can also take the JFK AirTrain + Long Island Rail Road into Manhattan if you prefer public transit, but with luggage and post-surgery, a car service is often easier.
• Newark Liberty International (EWR) –
Another major airport, located in New Jersey ~15 miles from Manhattan. Driving time to Harlem is around 35–45 minutes. Sometimes flights into EWR are cheaper; just factor in the slightly longer drive (and tolls) into the city.
• Teterboro Airport (TEB) – For private flights.
Teterboro is a small airport in NJ used by private jets, about 6 miles from our Harlem location (~15 min drive). If you’re flying privately, this is the closest option.
(No matter which airport you choose, let us know your arrival details – we can advise on the best route to the clinic. All these airports have taxi and car services readily available.)
• Car Service / Rideshare:
In NYC, it’s very common to use car services. Yellow cabs are always available at airport terminals (flat rate from JFK to Manhattan, and metered from LGA/EWR). Apps like Uber and Lyft operate at all NYC airports as well – simply follow signs to the rideshare pickup areas. A taxi or Uber from LGA to our Harlem office is typically $30–$40. From JFK or Newark, fares are higher ($60+$ tolls). Many of our patients arrange a car service or private driver for comfort – we can help recommend reputable car services if you prefer.
• Public Transit:
If you’re feeling up to it and traveling light before your surgery, public transit is an option. From LGA, the M60 SBS bus goes directly into Harlem (125th St) for only a few dollars. From JFK, the AirTrain + E subway or LIRR train can get you to Manhattan. And from EWR, there’s an airport train to NJ Transit into Penn Station. That said, after surgery, we do not recommend navigating public transit – you’ll want a direct, comfortable ride back to the airport. Save the subway rides for when you’re feeling 100%.
• Within the City:
Our Harlem office at 721 St. Nicholas Ave is easily reachable by the MTA subway (the 145th St station for lines A, B, C, D is just a block away). If you or your companion want to explore the city during your stay, you can certainly use the subway or buses to get around. But for clinic visits post-surgery, hopping in a cab/Uber from your hotel is the easiest and gentlest on your body.
• Parking:
If you drive or rent a car, note that NYC parking can be challenging. There is a parking garage near our Harlem clinic and limited street parking. If your hotel is in Manhattan, it may charge for parking. Many patients find they don’t need a car while in NYC due to the abundance of transportation alternatives.
• Where to Stay (Hotels):
New York City has hundreds of hotels, from budget to luxury. The best choice will depend on your preferences, but here are some pointers and examples:
• Stay Uptown vs. Midtown:
Our Harlem clinic is in Upper Manhattan. Staying nearby can be convenient – for example, the Aloft Harlem is a modern hotel just a few blocks from the clinic (walkable in 10 minutes or a 2-minute cab ride). It’s a stylish, younger vibe hotel with free Wi-Fi and is close to many Harlem restaurants. If you prefer a more central Manhattan experience, you might stay in Midtown (around Times Square, etc.) and simply taxi uptown for your appointments (Midtown is only ~6 miles away, about 20–30 min drive). Residence Inn Central Park and Hampton Inn Times Square are examples of hotels in Midtown that offer suites or free breakfast, which can be nice for recovery, though you’ll be farther from the clinic.
• Recovery-Friendly Hotels:
We often recommend choosing a hotel with amenities that make recovery easier. Look for rooms with mini-fridges (to store drinks, ice packs, or light snacks), on-site dining or room service, and comfortable bedding. In NYC, some upscale options known for catering to guests’ comfort include The Carlyle (Upper East Side) and The Four Seasons (Midtown). However, there are also simpler options like Courtyard by Marriott Upper East Side, which is a short drive from our clinic and located in a quieter residential area. Our staff can provide a list of recommended hotels — we have relationships with several local hotels that are very comfortable for patients during recovery. Don’t hesitate to ask us for hotel suggestions or any special rates that might be available.
• Extended Stay & Budget:
If you’re staying a bit longer or prefer kitchenette facilities, consider an extended-stay style hotel. The Marmara Manhattan (Upper East Side) offers apartment-style suites with full kitchens, which is great if you want to prepare your own meals or stay a week or more. For more budget-conscious travelers, HI NYC Hostel or Jazz on the Park Hostel are options in Upper West Side/Harlem for short stays (though note you’d be sharing space – not ideal immediately post-op, but mentionable for those on a tight budget who might stay before surgery and then move to a private room after). Generally, we suggest investing in a private, comfortable room for the post-surgery nights.
• Nearby Comforts & Attractions:
There’s arguably no place more stimulating than New York, but as an out-of-town patient, you’ll also find that NYC can cater to your needs for rest and convenience:
• Pharmacies/Medical Needs:
Within a few blocks of our Harlem location, you’ll find multiple pharmacies (including a 24-hour CVS). If you need any supplies – bandages, prescriptions, etc. – you can get them quickly. Many pharmacies here offer delivery to your hotel as well. Additionally, New York has world-class hospitals and urgent care centers; while we don’t expect any issues, it’s reassuring to know top-notch medical facilities are nearby during your stay.
• Food & Delivery:
You will have endless food options. Whether you crave a taste of home or something new, you can get it in NYC. Harlem is famous for its soul food and Caribbean eateries – you might try comforting options like stew or soup from a local restaurant (have your companion pick it up, or get it delivered). Apps can bring almost any cuisine to your hotel door. Many hotels also have restaurants or offer in-room dining which might be easier the first day or two post-op.
• Entertainment & Relaxation:
If you’re feeling up to a gentle outing, or if you stay a few extra days for a mini vacation, New York has plenty to offer without straying far. Central Park is about a 10-minute ride from our Harlem office – it’s an ideal spot to take a slow, relaxing walk in nature when you’re cleared for light activity. The park’s north end (near Harlem) is quieter and great for a bit of fresh air. If you have family with you, they can enjoy attractions like the Apollo Theater on 125th Street, Metropolitan Museum of Art (a short cab ride away), or even a Broadway show if extending your trip. But remember: take it easy. It’s normal to be tired after surgery, so even though the city is exciting, it’s perfectly fine to spend most of your time resting in your hotel room with a good book or TV. New York will be waiting for you when you’re fully recovered!
• Community:
Our primary patient base in NYC includes many African American and Hispanic patients, and the local neighborhood around our Harlem office is a culturally rich, diverse community. You might feel right at home: grab a cup of herbal tea from a nearby café or listen to a little jazz or Latin music (there are often outdoor musicians in Harlem) – these small things can uplift your mood during recovery. NYC can be fast-paced, but you’ll also find plenty of warm, community vibe in our area.
• Surgery Trip Tips – New York:
Out-of-state patients in NYC should plan ahead for a smooth experience. Schedule a virtual consultation with our surgeons prior to your trip – this allows you to discuss your goals and get a personalized surgical plan without multiple NYC trips. Once your surgery is booked, arrive at least a day early in NYC. This gives you time to rest from your flight and meet with your surgeon in person for any final questions. We advise that you do not fly home for at least 5–7 days post-surgery, depending on what procedure you had. Air travel can increase risks of swelling or blood clots, so it’s important to recover sufficiently – most patients are cleared to fly about a week after, but follow your surgeon’s specific guidance. During those days in NYC, take advantage of services that make life easier: meal delivery, extra pillows from housekeeping, etc. If you need post-op care assistance, we can arrange for a private nurse or medical assistant to help you at your hotel (for example, to help with drains, dressings, or even just to check your vitals and make sure you’re comfortable). We want you to feel supported and safe. When it’s time to depart, give yourself extra time to get to the airport – New York traffic and airport security lines can be unpredictable. It’s better to arrive early and relax (airports here have plenty of seating and lounges) than to rush while in a delicate post-op state. Finally, know that our team is just a phone call away at any time during your stay. If you have concerns in the hotel at 2 AM or need an adjustment to your recovery plan, we’re here for you. We aim to make your New York fly-in experience positive, empowering, and successful – the first step toward the new you!
(Goals Los Angeles is located in Northridge, in the San Fernando Valley of LA. Here’s how to navigate your trip to our LA office.)
The Los Angeles area has multiple airports, but two will be most relevant for your trip:
• Los Angeles International (LAX)
The largest airport in California, serving most major airlines. LAX is about 26 miles from our Northridge clinic, roughly a 30–60 minute drive depending on traffic. Almost all cross-country and international flights will land at LAX. While it’s a bit farther from the clinic, it often offers the most convenient flight times and options.
• Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR)
(Bob Hope Airport) – A smaller airport located in the San Fernando Valley, about 11 miles from the clinic (~20-minute drive). Burbank is a fantastic option if you can find a flight there: it’s much quieter and easier to navigate than LAX. Airlines like Southwest and Delta offer some domestic routes into BUR. This airport is closer to Northridge, which means a shorter ride after surgery.
• Van Nuys Airport (VNY)
Private/General Aviation. Van Nuys is only ~5 miles from our office, about a 10–15 minute drive. It’s one of the busiest general aviation airports (no commercial airlines). If you’re chartering a flight or flying privately, VNY will put you practically at our doorstep. (Fun fact: Many celebrities use VNY; it’s a convenient hub for private jets in LA.)
Traffic Tip: Los Angeles traffic is legendary. Try to schedule flights that arrive/depart during off-peak hours (late morning or early afternoon) to avoid rush hour, which can significantly increase travel time from LAX.
• Driving & Car Rentals:
Los Angeles is a very car-centric city. Upon arrival, many visitors rent a car at the airport. If you (or your companion) are comfortable driving, a rental car gives you flexibility to move around during your stay. The drive from LAX to Northridge is mostly via freeways (I-405 and US-101) – it’s straightforward but can be congested. From BUR, it’s a quick hop on surface streets or the 405 freeway. Parking at our Northridge clinic is free in our on-site lot. If you do rent a car, make sure your hotel also has parking (most in the Valley do, often free or a small fee).
• Rideshare & Taxis:
If you prefer not to drive, Uber and Lyft are widely used in LA. They have designated pickup spots at LAX (you’ll take a shuttle to the LAX-it lot) and curbside pickup at Burbank. A rideshare from LAX to Northridge might cost around $50–$80 depending on time of day; from BUR, around $30. Taxis are available too, but rideshare tends to be more cost-effective in LA. It’s perfectly reasonable to rely on Uber/Lyft for your clinic visit and any outings – just factor in a wait time of 5–10 minutes for a car to arrive.
• Public Transit:
Los Angeles does have Metro trains and buses, but there is no direct transit line from LAX or BUR to Northridge. There is a Metrolink train that goes near Northridge (via a station in Van Nuys or Chatsworth) and some buses, but using them would be cumbersome after a surgery. We generally recommend against public transit in LA for our fly-in patients – it’s not very time-efficient, and the last thing you need is a long bus ride or multiple transfers post-op. Stick to a car or rideshare for comfort.
• Local Driving:
In Northridge and the Valley, getting around by car is easy (grid layout of streets). If you have a companion who can drive, they will find it fairly straightforward to navigate to nearby stores, pharmacy, or restaurants. Just remind them to watch the GPS and be prepared for LA drivers who sometimes change lanes suddenly! If you’re on your own, again, rideshare is your friend – you won’t need to drive yourself anywhere if you plan accordingly.
• Where to Stay (Hotels):
Northridge is a suburban neighborhood in LA, and while it’s not a tourist area, there are comfortable hotels within a short radius. Here are a few suggestions:
• Hilton Woodland Hills/Los Angeles:
~7 miles (15–20 min drive) from our clinic, located in the Warner Center area. This is an upscale hotel with spacious rooms, a restaurant, and near Westfield Topanga mall (convenient if your companion needs to shop or if you want a change of scenery in an indoor mall for a short walk). It’s a quieter location on weekends and offers a relaxing environment to rest.
• Airtel Plaza Hotel – Van Nuys:
~8 miles (about 15 min) from the clinic, this hotel is adjacent to the Van Nuys Airport. It’s a mid-range hotel known for its aviation theme. Because it’s near a private airport, it’s used to accommodating travelers and has a free shuttle to Burbank Airport (useful if you fly into BUR). The rooms are comfortable and it’s a straight drive up Balboa Blvd to our office.
• Hampton Inn & Suites Los Angeles – Porter Ranch:
~10 miles (15 min drive) north of the clinic. This is a newer hotel (opened recently) with modern amenities. It includes free breakfast and parking. Being in Porter Ranch, it’s in a nice, safe area with a big shopping center (restaurants, grocery store) next door – very handy for any needs. Many patients like staying here for the quiet atmosphere and mountain views; it’s a calm place to recover.
• Budget/Extended Stay:
If you need an extended stay option, Extended Stay America – Northridge (in neighboring Reseda) offers studio suites with kitchens, about 3 miles from the clinic. It’s a no-frills place but having a kitchen can be helpful if you plan to stay a week and want to prepare simple meals. Another budget option is Motel 6 – North Hills, ~4 miles away, which is very basic but inexpensive; if you just need a bed and plan to be mostly at the clinic or resting, it could suffice. (However, for better comfort, the above suggestions are preferred.)
• Nearby Comforts & Attractions:
While Northridge isn’t a typical tourist hotspot, it does offer plenty to make your stay comfortable:
• Shopping & Supplies:
The Northridge Fashion Center (a large mall) is just 5 minutes from our office. It has clothing stores (if you need an extra comfy outfit or slippers), a Target (for snacks, bottled water, or medication), and even a pharmacy inside. There are also grocery stores like Ralphs and Trader Joe’s in the area. If you need any medical supplies, there’s a CVS and Walgreens within a mile or two of the clinic; you or your companion can easily pick up prescriptions or purchase things like gauze, Tylenol, etc.
• Food:
The San Fernando Valley is known for its diverse food options, especially great Mexican and Japanese cuisine. Post-surgery, you might not venture out to restaurants, but you can get delivery from many nearby eateries. Whether you’re craving taco soup, a hearty stew, or just a smoothie, apps can deliver to your hotel. Some favorites among patients have been local taquerias (for flavorful but soft foods) and noodle shops (nothing like a warm broth to comfort you). Your hotel front desk can also provide menus of places that deliver.
• Recovery Activities:
LA’s weather is typically warm and dry. If you’re feeling a bit restless after a day or two, a brief walk in the hotel’s courtyard or a nearby park can be nice. Dearborn Park and Lake Balboa Park are short drives away – the latter has a lovely lake with walking paths (you might enjoy a tranquil stroll there in the evenings, just breathe in that SoCal air!). Of course, don’t overdo it – even sitting by the hotel pool (if your hotel has one) or on an outdoor patio can lift your mood. For any family traveling with you, there are attractions about 30 minutes away like Universal Studiosor the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but you should focus on rest while they sightsee.
• Climate Considerations:
Los Angeles can be hot in summer. If you’re coming during warmer months, know that all hotels and our clinic are air-conditioned. Dress in lightweight layers – a comfy hoodie or cardigan for inside A/C, but easy to remove if you feel warm. The dry climate means you should drink plenty of fluids as you recover (keep that water bottle handy!). On the flip side, winters are mild; you might just need a light jacket at night.
• Surgery Trip Tips – Los Angeles:
Planning ahead will make your LA fly-in experience much easier. As with our other locations, try to schedule a virtual consult before your trip so that most of your questions are answered in advance. Los Angeles is spread out, so give yourself time: arrive a day early and familiarize yourself with the route to our clinic (if driving, maybe do a quick practice drive or locate it on the map) to avoid any day-of-surgery stress. Staying about a week post-op is generally advisable – not only for medical safety, but also because flying shortly after surgery can be uncomfortable. Use this time to relax in sunny California. One advantage here: if you’re feeling up for it, sitting outside in the warmth with sunglasses on (even if you have some swelling or bandages) is totally acceptable – Angelenos are used to all sorts of post-surgery “looks” with the prevalence of cosmetic procedures in this city, so you won’t feel out of place! Still, prioritize rest in your hotel. It’s wise to have a travel companion in LA; distances are large, and you’ll likely need someone to drive or help you around (especially if you’re on pain medication, you shouldn’t be behind the wheel). If you must come alone, talk to us – we can coordinate a car service on surgery day and even a nurse to check on you at the hotel after surgery. LA has many skilled private duty nurses who assist plastic surgery patients regularly. Lastly, mind the follow-up: before you head home, you’ll have a follow-up visit at our clinic to ensure you’re safe to travel. We’ll also schedule any virtual follow-ups once you’re back home. We want you to leave Los Angeles feeling confident in your recovery plan and thrilled with your decision to pursue your goals with us. Safe travels, and enjoy that California sunshine as you heal!
(Goals Houston is located in The Woodlands, a beautiful community about 30 miles north of downtown Houston. Below is how to plan your trip to our Texas location.)
• George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)
This is the primary airport to use for our Houston patients. IAH is about 22–24 miles from our Woodlands clinic, roughly a 30-minute drive in normal traffic. It’s a major hub (United Airlines’ home base) with extensive flight options from all over the country. Choosing IAH will typically give you the shortest commute to the clinic.
• William P. Hobby Airport (HOU)
Hobby is Houston’s secondary airport, located on the south side of the city. It’s about 45–50 miles from The Woodlands (around a 60-minute drive or more, since you have to drive through Houston). HOU mainly serves Southwest Airlines and a few others for domestic flights. You can use Hobby if you find a significantly better flight, but be prepared for a longer drive; you’ll essentially traverse the entire city. (If you do fly into Hobby, consider timing your drive north to avoid peak traffic on I-45.)
• Conroe–North Houston Regional Airport (CXO)
Regional/Private. This is a smaller airport just north of The Woodlands. It’s only about 15 minutes away from our office. While it has limited commercial service, it’s mainly used for private aviation and corporate flights. If you happen to be chartering a plane or coming in via a smaller regional jet, CXO is extremely convenient. (It’s also an option for patients in nearby Texas/Louisiana areas who might choose to fly a small plane in rather than drive.)
• Car Rentals:
In Texas, driving is often the easiest way to get around. Both IAH and HOU have on-site Rental Car Centers with all major companies. Renting a car might be a good idea especially if you have family with you or plan to stay a while – The Woodlands and Houston in general have limited public transit. The route from IAH to The Woodlands is basically a straight shot up I-45 North (then a short westward drive on TX-242 to our clinic). It’s a relatively easy drive and usually not too congested except during rush hour outbound from Houston. If you’re not accustomed to driving, you can stick to the right lane and take it slow – Texans are generally polite drivers.
• Rideshare & Taxis:
Uber and Lyft operate in the Houston area. From IAH to our office, an Uber ride might cost around $40–$60. They will pick up at designated areas at the airport (follow the signs or app instructions). Taxis are also available at the airport; a taxi to The Woodlands will be pricey (possibly $80+), but it’s an option if you prefer a traditional cab. One thing to note: once you’re in The Woodlands, rideshares are available but can sometimes have slightly longer wait times than in a dense city (maybe 10–15 minutes), since it’s a suburban area. It’s a good idea to arrange rides in advance for your surgery day (we can help schedule a reliable car service to pick you up after surgery if needed, so you’re not waiting).
• No Public Transit:
There’s essentially no convenient public transportation connecting the airports to The Woodlands. There are shuttle services and vans that run from IAH to The Woodlands on a schedule (like Groome Transportation shuttle) which some travelers use, but those drop at centralized locations (not at our clinic or your hotel specifically) and you’d still need a taxi from the drop-off to your final destination. Given you’ll have luggage and possibly be tired after travel, we recommend sticking to a direct car ride.
• Local Transportation:
The Woodlands is fairly easy to navigate by car. If you have a rental or your companion drives, you’ll find ample free parking at hotels, shopping centers, and our clinic. The community was master-planned, so it’s green, pretty, and not too hard to find places. If you don’t have a car and need to go somewhere nearby (like a pharmacy or restaurant), your hotel might offer a local shuttle service – some Woodlands hotels do have shuttles within a 5-mile radius, so be sure to ask.
• Where to Stay (Hotels):
The Woodlands has a number of excellent hotels, including some that are very close to our clinic. Because it’s a suburban area, you’ll find many hotels are spacious and surrounded by nature – a nice setting for recovery. Here are a few recommendations:
• Candlewood Suites – The Woodlands –
This is an extended-stay style hotel located about 5 minutes from our clinic (on St. Luke’s Way, very near the medical center area). It offers suite rooms with full kitchens, which is wonderful if you plan to prepare your own meals or stay for a week. The environment is quiet and it’s a short drive (or even a doable walk) to pharmacies and eateries. Candlewood is known for being comfortable for longer stays – you’ll have a large room, recliner chair, and access to laundry facilities (helpful if you need to wash comfy clothes or linens during your stay).
• Embassy Suites by Hilton – The Woodlands at Hughes Landing –
An upscale all-suites hotel about 10–15 minutes from the clinic. It’s located on Lake Woodlands in a beautiful area (Hughes Landing) with restaurants and walking paths. Every suite has a separate living room, which gives you space to spread out. Plus, Embassy Suites provides free made-to-order breakfast and evening receptions – perks that you or your companion might enjoy. The serene lake view and modern facilities make it a popular choice for patients who want a bit of pampering.
• The Woodlands Resort –
If you’re looking for a recover in luxury experience, The Woodlands Resort is a 4-star resort about 15 minutes from our office. It’s set in a forested area with golf courses and pools. They have a spa on-site (perhaps for a relaxing massage for your companion while you rest, or for you in a future trip!). The resort is very peaceful and has on-site dining, which means you wouldn’t need to leave for meals. Just keep in mind there is a sprawling layout (ask for a room near the lobby to minimize walking, or use the resort shuttle carts). Some patients choose this resort to turn their recovery into a mini-retreat.
• Mid-Range Hotels:
There are also plenty of mid-range options like Fairfield Inn & Suites or SpringHill Suites Houston The Woodlands (both are about 2–3 miles from the clinic). These offer free breakfast and parking, and are reliably clean and comfortable. Many are located near College Park Drive/I-45, which is the same road as our office, so you can get to the clinic in under 10 minutes. The area around these hotels has convenience restaurants (Chick-fil-A, Panera Bread, etc.) and even some urgent care clinics (just in case, it’s good to know).
• Nearby Comforts & Attractions:
The Woodlands is known for being an attractive, relaxing area – it even has “woodlands” in the name! This can actually be a benefit for recovery, as the environment is calm and not as hectic as a big city. Here’s what you can expect:
• Conveniences:
You’ll be close to everything you need. There are two major hospitals (Houston Methodist The Woodlands and St. Luke’s Hospital) within a mile of our clinic – while we likely won’t need them, it’s reassuring for patients to know full medical facilities are right there. For everyday needs, there’s an H-E-B grocery store and Walgreens pharmacy within 5 minutes drive. Grab some healthy snacks, bottled water, and any over-the-counter meds you might want. Also, many restaurants and even some grocery stores in The Woodlands offer delivery – so you can have groceries or meals delivered to your hotel easily.
• Dining:
The Woodlands has a diverse food scene. Along Research Forest Drive and Market Street, you’ll find everything from Tex-Mex and BBQ (when in Texas…!) to Italian and Mediterranean. If you’re feeling well enough to venture out for a meal, consider a gentle outing to Market Street – it’s an outdoor shopping center with benches, a nice place to sit and people-watch, and restaurants where you can dine on a patio (the fresh air can feel great). If you’re not up for going out, no worries – places like Pappasito’s Cantina (Tex-Mex) or Cheesecake Factory deliver to local hotels. And of course, you might treat yourself to some classic Texas comfort food – a bowl of chili or some chicken soup from a local cafe can be both comforting and hearty as you heal.
• Things to Do (for you or companions):
If you have a family member or friend with you, they might enjoy the local attractions while you rest. The Woodlands Mall is a large mall nearby for shopping. There’s also the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, an outdoor amphitheater – if your stay coincides with a concert and you feel up to it, you could even listen from a distance or attend with caution (but only if approved by your doctor). More low-key, the Woodlands Waterway is a landscaped canal area where you can take a stroll or even a water taxi ride; it’s very peaceful and might be a nice, gentle activity for you on day 3 or 4 post-op, just to get some fresh air. The community is filled with parks – many patients take short walks in Northshore Park or around Lake Woodlands as part of their recovery (light walking is actually good to help circulation, per your post-op instructions, as long as you don’t overexert).
• Privacy:
One thing we hear from patients is that they appreciate the relative privacy of recovering in The Woodlands. The hotels are used to medical guests (due to the nearby hospitals), so staff will not bat an eye if you’re moving a bit slowly or need extra pillows. If you are wearing compression garments or have bandages, people around are generally polite and won’t bother you. You can feel comfortable focusing on your well-being.
• Surgery Trip Tips – Houston:
When traveling to our Houston location, a little preparation goes a long way. Communicate your plans: Let our coordinators know your flight times and where you’re staying – we’ll make sure your appointments align and even provide directions or any help you need.
Aim to arrive a day early in Houston, especially if you’re coming from a different time zone – giving your body a chance to adjust and rest will help with surgery and recovery. The evening before surgery, consider enjoying a quiet activity at your hotel (like watching a movie or listening to soothing music); The Woodlands is peaceful, so you should get a good night’s sleep.
After surgery, we typically advise staying at least 5–7 days before flying out. If you can stay a bit longer, even better – it allows you to have stitches removed (if needed) and ensure you’re truly travel-ready.
Flying after surgery: be sure to follow our guidelines (we may recommend wearing compression socks on the plane to promote circulation, and you should walk the aisle periodically on your flight home to prevent clots – these are routine precautions). It’s also wise to schedule your departure flight in the afternoon or evening, rather than early morning, on your last day – that way you can take your time packing and come by the clinic once more if you want a final check.
If you came alone and are worried about managing things, let us know – we can arrange transport to the airport and help you with your luggage (we don’t want you lifting anything heavy!).
Remember, our Houston team is known for Texas hospitality – we will go above and beyond to make sure you feel cared for. From the moment you touchdown in Texas to the day you leave, we want you to feel empowered, supported, and comfortable pursuing your aesthetic goals with us.
